RA: Hump the Shark

Attendance: 20

The Beginning

We were pleased that Pyro stepped up the hare another trail in August. Starting from the parking lot of the 12 Mile Coolee Natural Area, providing great access to the hills and pathways close by.

The evening of the run was cool and smokey. A group of intrepid hashers showed up for the entertainment that Pyro had prepared.

The pack found a place to park and mingled before the circle was called.

A cluster of hashers – aggregated by AI

Looks like Hardly ran the circle and went through the announcements and introductions. Mr. PeeeeeNut tried to be in all the hasher photo’s, using his best photobombing tactics. AI fixed that problem…..

Hardly calls the circle to order

Hardly invited the hare into the circle to describe the marks for the trail.

With the marks described, the pack was released to find the trail.

The Trail

The trail started off to the east, across Stoney Trail in the the Scenic Acres neighbourhood. Following trail, sidewalks and streets the trail unfolded.

Into the natural area, the trail headed off into the wilderness. Downhill to start then uphill to return.

Finishing off, I can hear the refreshments calling!

The regroup vehicle was found and there was much rejoicing.

Regroup found!

The group got set up for outdoor down down’s. Settling in waiting for things to happen!

Eventually, things were organized enough to have the down down’s.

The Down Down’s

According to last weeks notes, Lazy Cummer was intended to be the Religious Advisor. However, it appears that Hump the Shark ran the program. I am sure that Lazy Cummer will have his chance in the future.

Hump the Shark imagined the crimes, stories and offences that deserved a down down. Starting with the hare, who , once again, set a fine trail for the hash to follow!

A series of infractions and observations were duly rewarded with down down’s.

With the down down’s completed, the pack continued to socialize and perhaps head to the Last Straw Ale House for a debrief.

Trail Summary

Close to 5 km’s of great trail set by Pyro was enjoyed by the pack.

Unfortunately, the scribe was not physically present at the run. Thank you Elon for Starlink that allowed me to create this write up remotely

Run 2394 – Pyro Lights It Up

Hares:   Pyro

Location: Stonewall Pub NW Ranchlands

RA:  Camshaft

Attendance: 18

Spring is in the Air!

The Beginning

Pyro volunteered to set trail in Ranchlands NW. We have ran from the Stonewall Pub in the past, and have experienced the trails and forests of this neighbourhood. Pyro has lots of experience but admitted that he found new terrain in the scouting that he was pleased to include in the run.

The pack assembled in the pub until it was time to circle up outside.

Stonewall Pub in Ranchlands NW

There was a parking lot at the rear of the strip mall, well suited for a circle to form. Insane bolt ran the circle.

Circle up

The formalities of announcements and introductions proceeded. No unusual business except for the announcement that our next Mismanagement meeting will happen on Tuesday at the Elephant and Castle Pub.

The group figured out how to make a circle and prepared for the adventure that would unfold courtesy of Pyro.

Insane Bolt summoned the hare into the centre of the circle who proceeded to describe the marks.

Ready for the hare!

The pack was released and dispersed to find the trail.

The Trail

Out of the parking lot, marks were found and the pack was afoot. Large H’s on the sidewalk were found and followed. The sound of “On On” resonated through the neighbourhood.

Surprisingly uphill

Nature was present with spring flowers and other evidence of spring being present.

Spring Flowers

Eventually, we found the marks that led us to the regroup beer.

Regroup location

It was decided that the down down’s would be outside. Weather was good and we could splash out more down down beer.

The Down Down’s

Camshaft was the Religious Advisor for the evening. He scratched down some digital notes on his phone and collected stories from the group. Eventually, it was show time and the ceremonies started!

Show Blower, PMS, and Booty Camp – French Connection

There were some antics involving Skewbic Hair, for some crime of insignificant proportion.

Apparently, there was some evidence of photo’s of photo’s.

With all done, we honoured the RA with a down down and were declared “on the piss”.

The group retired to the pub for beer and food. Not a lot of pictures, just this evidence of yam fries.

Trail Summary

A fine trail close to 5 km’s. Great views and lots of up and down made the run an enjoyable experience. Thanks to Pyro for a fine trail.

Run 2355 – Pyro Has Plans for the Hash

Hare:   Pyro

Location:  Baker Park – Off Shriners Road NW

RA:  Hump the Shark
Attendance:  22

Trail Might Be this Way!

The Beginning

We thank Pyro for setting trail in August. Pyro saves the hash once again and we appreciate the effort. Close to home in the NW, Pyro chose the West End of Baker Park for the run start. Not to be confused with the “other” start point in Baker Park that Hump the Shark chose last month. A clarification e-mail confirmed the start point location and a group of 22 intrepid hashers showed up for the run!

Apparently, Lumberjack made an appearance. As he is now a Vernon BC resident, it was a while since he has enlightened the Calgary group with his presence. Lumberjack attracted another archive, Party Pumper, who came out to play. Perhaps a reunion of the Lumby dancers is in the works for a future hash?

The dusty parking lot was the start venue.

As the usual hash photographer and scribe was elsewhere, the notes and pictures were supplied by others. As such, not much from the start of the run.

I am sure that On In got the circle together. Announcements were conducted. Welcome if the archives, Lumber Jack and Party Pumper. Dastardly had a milestone run. The group went through the names.

Pyro was called into the circle to describe the marks he had selected for the trail.

Let the adventure begin and the pack was off!

The Trail

Down to the river. Explore the catacombs of urban design. Uphill and around about. Through the pathways and ravines of Tuscany.

No shortage of photo opportunities for the photogenic sector of the group. We should use this to promote new membership!

They are all number 1!

It would appear that the run was successful! The joy and satisfaction of a run well done was ready to be rewarded!

The Regroup and the Down Down’s

The circle of chairs was formed and the outdoor down down show was assembled. Creative creation of an outdoor table from a cooler lid and cases of beer!

Hump the Shark nominated himself to be RA. Choir was Hardly and Lazy Cummer.

This list of crimes and punishments was extensive. So extensive that it was duly documented by the RA. Crimes in the captions of the photo’s.

After an extensive number of songs and frivolity, the group settled down to some munching and drinking. On the piss was declared by Hump the Shark!

Trail Summary

Looks like 6-7 km of trail was run. No casualties, except for that lost and found phone thing.
