The Beginning

Annual Stampede event was a campout in Wayne, Alberta home of the Rosedeer Hotel and the Last Chance Saloon. Camping in the Alberta badlands!

A Full Moon Run on Friday evening, with the main event happening on Saturday afternoon.

The group with camping gear started arriving on Thursday to get the good spots. Camping for one or two lights depending on your desire. Some even booked rooms at the prestigious Roedeer Hotel.

A drive of about an hour and a half through the scenic countryside of Alberta, with impressive vista’s of the badlands.

With 30 plus signed up for the event, the campground filled up with our group.

Full Moon Run

A Full Moon Run was organized by Rashy and Stoolie. They set trail and then fed us with wonderful hot dogs. Not a lot of pictures, but here are a couple that illustrate what a great time the walkers had.

The Saturday trail was set by Pyro, Tommy Two Fingers and Camshaft. Epic views were had as we challenged the badlands. The pack assembled for the two o’clock start after sampling the Full Steam Lager sourced from Valley Brewing in Drumheller.

It was a hot day and it was difficult to keep up the pace. Here is a memorable false trail with a view.

The bushwacking and steep climbing made for a fun time.

Look at what was collected on trail. Spikey things and grass that was like little knives.

The river crossing was quite refreshing. The high turbidity brown water was a nice touch, and the muddy shores were interesting. Shoe sucking shiggy comes to mind.

Eventually, we ended up at the regroup to enjoy some chilled beverages.

After the run, it was back to the camp ground to drink more beer and think about eating.

Post Run Shenanigans

A picture is worth a thousand words, so use your best judgement to interpret what happened.

A fine evening of eating and drinking until we ran out of beer.
