The Pack Runs the Alley’s of Huntington Hills

The Beginning

We are thankful that Hardly, Twisty and Dastardly teamed up to generate a great hash run in the North part of town. The run started from the Black Bull Pub, but the group consolidated in the parking lot prior to the run start.

This would be the pub we started from. Used this stock shot as none was taken.

In the parking lot, the hashers assembled and Hot Cheeks was promoting the hand made Hash kilts. They were handed out and all went for a run!

Camshaft ran the circle and went through the announcements and introduction. We had some new boots and returning archives making for a good sized group.

There was a bit of a kilt parade, showing off the kilts that are available to bid on, with the funds supporting charity.

The hares were called into the circle to describe the marks for today’s trail. Multiple playgrounds were promised!

With the marks described, the pack was released.

The Trail

Out of the parking lot, the hares had set many long check backs. The pack was confused trying to find the true trail, but eventually that happened. Pathways, backyards, alleys, streets and sidewalks.

More playgrounds!

The regroup vehicle was found, and the group headed back to find their chairs for outdoor down down’s.

The group settled in and prepared for the down down’s to begin. Mostly chatting and enjoying suitable refreshments.

The outdoor venue meant that we had to prepare our own down down’s. Great work by the beer wenches to pull this off.

In good time, the down down’s were ready to begin.

The Down Down’s

Booty Camp had volunteered to be the Religious Advisor for the run. She had been mentally preparing for the week and was ready to unleash her creation.

A choir was chosen, and King Shit was chosen. He then sang himself a song and the ceremony was underway.

A number of offences were called out as the program got underway.

Some crimes were committed before the run started, supplement by the long list created by Booty Camp.

The hares – Dastardly, Twisty and Hardly

Booty Camp finished off by offering up the RA position for next week. Hump the Shark put up his hand, and it was done.

All done, we were declared “on the piss”. Some gravitated to the Black Bull Pub for a debriefing.

Trail Summary

Somewhere between 5 and 8 km were enjoyed by the pack. A great trail with many playgrounds, as well as the insiders tour of Huntington Hills.

Apparently the walkers had a good time as well.

Run 2460 – Booty Blower Long Weekend Banger

A view from the Hill

The Beginning

With the first long weekend in May, finding a hare to host the run can be challenging. Many conflicting objectives, including camping, cycling, Stampeders football and travel can lead to a small number of runners. With a holiday Monday, afternoon vs evening time slot is another question.

Thankfully, Booty Camp and Snow Blower stepped up to the challenge and declared they would host an afternoon run with feeding afterwards! We can not thank them enough!

With variable weather, the threat of rain made were an added feature. Nevertheless, hashers appeared and prepared for the run that had been thoughtfully prepared for the group.

Run start location, with BBQ in the back!

In the absence of our normal Hashmasters, a stand in was acclaimed to run the circle and be the religious advisor for the closing ceremonies.

Skewbic Hair ran the circle going through the announcements and introductions.

The hares were called into the circle to describe the marks they had set to mark the trail.

All you need to know is here, including a pink flamingo

The pack was released and to group wandered off to find the marks.

The Trail

The pathways proved fruitful for finding marks. Off we went knowing that the pedestrian bridges over the Trans Canada Highway were likely important.

A few clouds

Some hashers did not appreciate that the regroup was located close to the end of the run. Some were distracted by other beverages at another location near by. All was good and we did not get rained on!

The Down Down’s

Back to the start location, the back yard became a fine place to place your chair and enjoy a suitable beverage in anticipation of the down down’s starting.

Skewbic Hair was volunteered to be the Religious Advisor (RA), and enlisted the support of Karate Klit.

A choir of the bashers was selected, including Pull My Woody, Sticky Lips and XXX Ray. These folks were unable to join us for the circle.

A choir happy to help out with the songs!

First off was a tribute to the hares for setting a fine trail and for hosting the group on this wonderful afternoon.

It was noted that one of our hashers had shoes that were suspiciously new looking. Upon further enquiry, these were indeed new shoes debuting on the May the Fourth run. The RA of that evening, Tighty Whitey, was so wrapped up in his star wars world, they were overlooked. Time to correct that transgression.

Adds a bit of new flavour to the beverage!

After exhausting the material they had to work with, it was time to down the RA and see if we can get a volunteer for next week!

A fine afternoon of mirth and merriment. We sincerely thank Booty Camp and Snow Blower for hosting the afternoon May Long Weekend Run.

Trail Summary

A great trail through some hilly neighbourhoods within earshot of McMahon Stadium where a noisy football game was being played. Somewhere in the 7 – 8 km range, depending on you ability to short cut or find the false trails.

A Bank with a View

The Beginning

Snevil chose to hare this run and we thank her for that. Familiar with the neighbourhood, it was decided to start the run at the Royal Pub Bankview SW. She was familiar with the lay of the land and the extent of the hills and challenging geography that this place had for the hashers.

The group assembled outside on the modest patio of the pub.

A reasonable crowd turned up and the weather was good. Eventually, we were called to the circle in the parking lot adjacent to the pub.

Camshaft ran the circle as we went through the announcements and introduction.

The hares were called into the circle to describe the marks for the trail. All in chalk, with some unique features that required us to pay attention.

Others are not… Here they are and off you go!

The hare pointed out the first mark and the pack was released.

The Trail

Off through the back alleys, marks were found that indicated we were on the trail. The neighbourhood is going through a bit of a transformation with lots of new building and renovation.

It was decided to do the down down’s outside in this back yard. Preparations were made to make that happen!

The Down Down’s

Hardly and Twisty were the volunteer Religious Advisors, appointed last week. They jointly prepared their material as the down down beverages were made ready.

Hardly and Twisty started their program.

A choir was appointed, and Dastardly and Lazy Cummer sang themselves a suitable song.

RA recruitment for the next run was unsuccessful. Sort it out at the next run. On the piss was declared and we headed back to the Royal Pub Bankview for debriefing.

At the pub, a kilt fashion show was put on for the benefit of the patrons. These kilts are available for sale with money going to charity.

Trail Summary

A fine trail somewhere close to 5 km was enjoyed by the group. Two regroups was a nice touch for the group.

The Beginning

Shakesbeer volunteered to set trail on May the Forth. With a Star Trek theme, costumes were encouraged.

The starting point of the trail was the parking lot at Stanley Park. The group arrived and prepared for an epic trail. Camshaft called for the group to circle up and we got ready for the trail.

Down Down’s

Tighty Whitey was the Religious Advisor for the evening. He had prepared a program with a Star Wars theme. His Star Wars inspiration extended into inventing a names he attributed to hashers in the down down’s.

With the down down’s complete, it was time to socialize and enjoy the yummy Born Brewing product.

Apparently, a hash shit was abandoned at the pub. I trust this will be reacquainted with its rightful owner.

Trail Summary

The trail was 5 – 6 km’s through the wilds of Stanley Park, Rideau Park and Park Hill. A combination of streets, pathways, alleys and trails. Shakesbeer outdid himself setting this great trail.
