Headlights on the Hill!

The Beginning

Thanks to Booty Camp and Snow Blower for stepping up to set the first trail in March 2025. Starting from Buffalo Bob’s Sports Bar in the SW, in the Glenbrook, Glendale neighbourhoods. The private room in the bar was reserved and we were set for the evening.

The weather shifted for the Monday run, where we had sustained above freezing temperatures, a dusting of snow and around freezing temperatures made the footing interesting.

The enthusiastic group turned out in good numbers as we prepared for the run at the bar.

We were called to the circle by Insane Bolt and headed outside to the cold and dark.

Insane Bolt called the group to order and went through an abbreviated version of the formalities.

The hares were called into the circle to describe the marks we had follow to enjoy the trail.

The pack was released and off we went to find the marks. Some confusion with running through the shopping area and industrial building before we ultimately found our way forward.

Through the streets, alleys and pathways the trail wound through the neighbourhoods.

Some gems were found on the pathways, with a snow person appearing, freshly made.

A bit icy and crunchy as the temperatures went down.

Eventually we made it to the regroup, with Booty Camp protecting the deep puddle from the oblivious hashers.

Off to the pub to get set up for down downs.

The Down Down’s

At Buffalo Bob’s, we had a private room at the back. Good set up for the group as we got settled and ordered beer and food.

The religious advisor for the evening was Skewbic Hair. Dispensing with photo duties to Liquor Lots, a choir was chosen and the ceremonies commenced.

The choir of Roaring Nancy and Karate Klit were rewarded with down down’s, sang themselves a song to begin the program.

Down down’s for the hares, leading into other crimes and offences being rewarded.

Hash shit was awarded to Insane Bolt for forgetting to do the introductions at the opening circle. He was able to hand it off to a hasher of his choice, and selected Camshaft.

A round of the camel song showed a good understanding of anatomy.

Mmmm Lady Fingers was rewarded with a down down for achieving 269 runs.

With all material exhausted, we were declared to be “on the piss”, with a down down to the RA!

Trail Summary

A fine trail of 6.66 km’s, a devilish distance. Limited slips and crashes made this an enjoyable run!

Run 2371 – Grey Cup Run

Where Canadian Football is Played in Calgary

The Beginning

The Grey Cup is the final game of the Canadian football season. The winner gets to take home the Grey Cup.

There was some hope that the local team would be present to compete, but that was not the case. As such, we were relegated to celebrating the Grey Cup football game with a run, and a watch party.

Grey Cup was held in Vancouver in an enclosed stadium, with teams from Toronto and Winnipeg participating.

Booty Camp and Snow Blower hosted the run. This is a special run on the Sunday in the afternoon. Thankfully, the weather was good for the run. Snow predicted for that evening, but the daytime was double digits and sunny.

A group of intrepid hashers showed up, running without the burden of headlamps. We gathered initially inside, awaiting the late cummers to arrive.

Enough of this warm inside stuff, time to go outside and face the elements!

Insane Bolt ran the circle and went through the announcements and introductions. Milestone for Mucky Dip – 650 runs! The hares went through the marks for the run.

The pack was released and we were off to find the trail!

The Trail

Through the pathways and back alleys to eventually hit the pedestrian overpass to McMahon Stadium, a shrine for Calgary football. We had a chance to circle the stadium to take in all its wonderment. This location will host the Grey Cup in 2026! Stay tuned!

Apparently the walkers also discovered the stadium.

Thankfully, there was more trail with considerable elevation loss and gain coupled with a viewpoint or two. Playgrounds included!

Of course there was more uphill and downhill. Why do they call this neighbourhood St. Andrews Heights!

Thankfully, the good marks showed up and we were directed to the regroup vehicle to find suitable refreshments.

Down Down’s

After a successful regroup, the retreated to the backyard comfort of our hosts. Not as warm as we would have liked, but OK for the down down’s.

Abandoned Pussy was the religious advisor and delivered the program.

All was well and AP declared us “on the piss”. Can Crusher took a moment to demonstrate her superior can crushing skills.

We completed the afternoon with a splendid eating feast and the watch of the football game. Now we know that the Toronto team were victorious.

Trail Summary

A fine trail through the posh neighbourhoods with some uphill, views and downhill. Some of us went around 6 km. Others went further to enjoy the check backs the hare had provided!

Pacing for Pride

The Beginning

Labour Day and Pride celebration are an interesting combination. Calgary Pride Festival on the Saturday and Sunday. Labour Day hash run on the Monday afternoon. Wear your best colourful outfit!

Booty Camp and Snow Blower hosted the run from their posh residence in the Banff Trail neighbourhood. A collection of 23 hashers showed up on a hot afternoon. There were visitors and a new boot to add to the interest of the group. A conflicting football game later in the afternoon made it difficult for some of our football inclined members to make it all work. As well, others were doing the Labour Day weekend out of town thing.

People kept arriving, showing off there finest pride themed running attire.

A circle happened with introductions, the hares were brought into the circle to explain the marks, and the pack was released.

The Trail

The trail took in some of the finer trails in the Banff Trail and Capital Hill neighbourhoods. Some epic views were observed by both the runners and the walkers. Apparently, there was some fixation with fixed objects by the walkers.

There was an excessive amount of chalk used for some of the trail to ensure that no-one got excessive misdirected or lost.

The trail included some playground actions for those playful hashers.

Eventually the trail made it back to the start and the group went into down-down mode.

Down Downs

The Booty Blower backyard proved to be an excellent place for the closing ceremonies. People are looking happy and content.

Use your imagination to fill in the Religious Advisor performing the down down celebration. Likely the hares, new boots and visitors. I suspect a number of crimes were committed, but not many pictures to document the festivities. If there is some evidence, we can add it in here!
