Hump the Shark has been prolific at setting runs recently. I think he takes great pleasure setting runs to make the pack suffer for not setting trail. Hump went over the top on this run by setting a long trail, a great trail, and a mosquito rich experience.
We were warned to be ready for bugs, but we did not think we would need a full bug proof suit.
The group assembled at the Fish Creek Boat Launch parking lot at the end of Bow Bottom trail SE. A good turnout including visitors and new boots.
A warm evening, the circle started to form in a fog of bug spray.
The group was in chattering mode until Insane Bolt called the circle to order.

The Trail
The pack dispersed to find the trail. With many trail options, it took some time to discover the true trail. Eventually, marks were found and the pack followed on.

The Down Down’s
The group found their chairs and prepared for outdoor down down’s. On In volunteered to be the Religious Advisor (RA). He put together his story from his snitches on trail and prepared for the ceremony.

Trail Summary
A fine trail in new territory was delivered by Hump the Shark. Good bug spray is important. Distance was in the 8 km range.
Summer is a wonderful time in Calgary. Problem is, that people disappear on vacation and the Hash has to go begging for hares. Thankfully, Strap On Crampon volunteered to fill the void in the calendar and took it upon herself to set a fabulous trail for all to enjoy.
The start location was on the edge of Fish Creek Park and Lake Bonaventure off Canyon Meadows Drive SE. As such, will the be getting our feet wet with shiggy in Fish Creek or a romp through the neighbourhood? Have to be there to find out.
The group began to assemble in the parking lot getting ready for the run.

Off from the parking lot, we headed down toward Fish Creek Park. This was a false trail and, as such, now pointed us into the Lake Bonaventure neighbourhood to find trail.

Trail Summary
Some 5 km’s of trail through the streets and alleys of Lake Bonaventure SW with playgrounds and fun.
Another successful White Dress run completed. Slow Clap organized a great charity event with the process going the the Autism Aspergers Friendship Society. Months in the planning, with help from Hot Quickie and Beer in the Rear setting trail.
Thankful for all those that signed up in advance, at the better rate, to help get a handle on the numbers. The later sign up folks paid a small premium for the later sign up. All is good as 26 participants, in White Dress splendor converged on the random parking muddy parking lot close to the railway tracks.
The circle starts to form
A fine range of white dress finery was on display. Special attention to the accessories and Village Tags that show the investment in the cause.

The hares were called into the circle to describe the marks for the trail. Two versions available: Green chalk for walkers and Orange chalk for the runners.

The hare had illuded to a nominal 10 km run for the running bunch, and 6 km for the walkers. See if this was what we actually ran in the summary. Spoiler…. way longer.
The pack is instructed to disperse and find the trail marks. The pack was released in a flurry of white costume.

Trail Summary
As hard as it is to believe, the advertised 10 km run was more. Great trail and thanks to the organizers for an epic trail with great stops.
Hash Extra
Plenty of pictures were provided. Here are some additional shots for your viewing pleasure.
Hardly and Twisty love setting trail for the hash. They are very skilled at creating a unique hashing experience with each trail he sets. Starting from the Nose Hill Park view point, off 14 Street NW, the wilds of Nose Hill are calling out for the hashers to enjoy.
Run Start Location – Pecker Point
The group gathered in the parking lot and got organized. Apparently, the amount of rain of late has vastly improved the mosquito population. They are abundant, angry and looking for blood.
The circle was conducted and the hare described the marks for the trail. No photographic evidence provided, but trust me it all happened.
The pack was released and headed out to follow the buzz of the bugs.

Trail Summary
Something close to 5 km, once the GPS was turned off on the way to the pub. Epic trail that I was not able to enjoy.
August long weekend is a great time for a holiday or to be out of town. As such, finding a hare to volunteer to host this holiday afternoon event is sometimes a challenge. Thankfully, Liquor Lots succumbed to the pressure to host the run, and start/finish at her fancy house.
Keeping with the tradition of rain, rain and more rain, the trail was wet. I am sure that some folks are happy with the wet and soggy ground, but others are concerned that too much rain can be a problem. Not a problem if you like to harvest mushrooms on your front lawn, but some who live near the Elbow River remember the flood of 2013.
An afternoon run saw 12 intrepid hashers brave the wetness to show up for the run. Circle up in the backyard, waiting for the rain to pour down in earnest enjoying Jell-O shooters to mentally prepare for the run.

Looks the Hashmasters were not to be seen as On-In stepped up to run the circle. The group formed up in the alley behind the house and started to get ready for the afternoon trail.
