The Beginning

Summer is a wonderful time in Calgary. Problem is, that people disappear on vacation and the Hash has to go begging for hares. Thankfully, Strap On Crampon volunteered to fill the void in the calendar and took it upon herself to set a fabulous trail for all to enjoy.

The start location was on the edge of Fish Creek Park and Lake Bonaventure off Canyon Meadows Drive SE. As such, will the be getting our feet wet with shiggy in Fish Creek or a romp through the neighbourhood? Have to be there to find out.

The group began to assemble in the parking lot getting ready for the run.

A group of 22 hashers turned out on a fine warm evening.

On In ran the circle in the absence of any current hashmasters. He went through the announcements and introductions.

Strap On was invited into the circle to explain the marks. All in chalk (yellow) with no flagging.

With the marks explained, the pack was released to find the marks for the true trail.

The Trail

Off from the parking lot, we headed down toward Fish Creek Park. This was a false trail and, as such, now pointed us into the Lake Bonaventure neighbourhood to find trail.

Finally, a playground came into play. Hashers were pleased with the opportunity to use the swings and the teeter totter.

More fun was had with a surprise snow pile. There was some snowball throwing which is currently out of season. Snow angel opportunity for those that like wet clothing.

The trail followed the high bank of Fish Creek Park to end up in a parking lot close to the pub where the regroup was ready to go.

Back to the pub to get set up on the patio for down down’s.

The Down Down’s

The beverages were prepared and ready for down down’s. Special milestone runs for a couple of hashers!

Lysing Sack of Shit volunteered for Religious Advisor duties. He called for a choir of Shakesbeer and Hump the Shark.

First down down’s for the hare. Strap On did a fine job of setting trail using a large amount of yellow chalk.

Team yellow was recognized for their matching outfits. This was done via telepathy.

And now for the big event. Stool Stuffer celebrating 300 runs, Dastardly 1200 runs. A tandem down down event.

With the down down’s complete, we were declared “on the piss” by the RA.

The group settled down to eating, drinking and socializing.
